Delhi government calls off odd-even scheme for now

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has called-off the odd-even automotive rationing scheme for the time being, information company ANI reported.

Delhi shipping minister Kailash Gehlot made the marvel announcement on Saturday, hours after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) gave its nod to the AAP government to put in force the coverage from November 13 to 17.

Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had floated the theory to implement odd-even for the 3rd time after hazardous smog engulfed the nationwide capital previous this week.

Earlier, the government had introduced exemptions for ladies drivers, two-wheelers and automobiles sporting youngsters at school uniforms, but even so VVIPs.

Today’s choice got here after the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) informed the bench that two-wheelers have been extra polluting than different automobiles, and emissions from motorbikes accounted for 20 in keeping with cent of the overall vehicular air pollution.

However, the tribunal exempted CNG automobiles, emergency products and services akin to ambulance and fireplace, and automobiles sporting waste.
