NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the Centre’s plea in quest of extension of time for e-newsletter of the draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam, as the federal government termed solving of the deadline as judicial overreach and an “encroachment” into the manager area.

The apex court docket mentioned that at the expiry of the middle of the night of December 31, the draft NRC pertaining to 2.38 crore claims, will likely be revealed.

The NRC is being ready to determine unlawful migrants in Assam.

The court docket mentioned it’s been tracking the method of updating the NRC for 3 years now and identified “sheer inaction on the part of the executive in dragging the matter”.
